Milwaukee Tree Planting

Spring is the perfect time to plan your yard; trees are a big part of it! If you haven’t started thinking about what sort of trees you’d like in your yard, you’ll need to consider many aspects and characteristics when making your final choices. What may look good in a movie or in your neighbor’s yard won’t necessarily work for you!

The foremost thought on your mind might be the tree’s overall look. Obviously, you want a tree that’s both beautiful and an attractive addition to your yard. Look at branch structure, leaf shape and color, whether it flowers or produces fruit or nuts. Also research how big this tree will get and its life expectancy, keeping in mind the shadow it will cast in the summer. You don’t want it blocking the light for other parts of your yard.

Yearly and seasonal maintenance is a big issue, especially if you’re one who doesn’t like to fiddle around with extra yard work. Conifers are nice possibilities, as they don’t drop as much as a berry tree. Large cones, for example, are a lot easier to pick up (and you won’t track berry juice into your house!)

It may be obvious to many, but it’s important to select a tree that works with your temperature zone. While palms wouldn’t last outdoors in a Wisconsin winter, some decorate species are selected for a potted home and brought indoors in the fall.
